There's always a prize in the pits...don't miss the prize. Missing the beauty in the apparent slights of life causes more pain than anything else. There's always beauty and blessing and unspeakable joy woven into every "pit". ;-)
Of course, you have the right of it. But who would deny that it doesn't always feel that way? (An implied triple negative—woo!) I enjoy to write from different perspectives; at the least, attending to shade highlights the bright spots, in the way that clouds help me appreciate the sunlight.
I think all writers (whether poets or prose) enjoy writing from different perspectives. Without the stumblings, bumblings, and falls, we wouldn't even know when Joy smiled upon us and lifted us up on her wings of grace and strength. Would we?
And you're so right -- it does feel as if the world is ending each time we're mired down in the pit. But oh how glorious it is to emerge from the misery into the light!
